Most dairy farms have either a two day retention sump or a smaller sump near their cowshed which collects the run off and washing from the dairy shed and yard, often transferring the waste water to a pond or spray irrigator.
During the season, the build-up of silt, sand and stones brought onto the yard normally by the cows’ feet builds up in the pump chamber.
A thorough clean
To minimise any damage to the pump and the build up or complete blockage of irrigator lines, more and more farmers are regularly emptying and cleaning out their chambers to remove the abrasive silt, sand and stones. These chambers may vary in size but are generally relative to the size of the farming operation and in most cases take Bain Liquids Disposal less than a couple of hours to clean out completely.
Fully compliant
We’ll also help you make sure your liquid waste is disposed of correctly, so you avoid costly fines of up to $35,000. As a company we are fully code compliant and independently audited every three years by Liquid Systems Ltd.
